EV Conversions

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”EV Conversions” font_container=”tag:h1|text_align:left” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]Here at our shop in Bellingham WA we have converted many cars & boats into electric vehicles and have helped with a lot of electric conversion projects in our community and we look foreword to discussing your dream project with you. In our shop at Mac & Mac Electric we convert VW Type I vehicles, Light Pick-up Trucks and small commuter sedans for the prices shown. This is in an effort to streamline and focus our abilities and extend the best value we can. We will also convert other vehicles to electrical systems but they will cost a bit more for the added engineering time needed to plan and develop the system into another specific vehicle. If you have another vehicle in mind please feel free to submit our quote sheet below.

With the rising costs of fossil fuels the day for the electric car is here. Electric vehicles cost about $0.03 per mile to $0.04 per mile to operate, compared to the very efficient Toyota Prius which costs about $0.14 per mile to operate. In addition to the fuel savings, Electric cars do not need oil changes, spark plugs, distributors, timing belts, etc… Our shops 1976’ VW Beetle Demo car was converted in August of 2007.

In 2006 we spent $928.58 on regular maintenance of our shops Jeep Cherokee and in 2007 we spent $1,119.13 on regular maintenance on our Jeep. Over the course of nine years the regular maintenance costs on our Jeep Cherokee will easily add up to cover the cost of at least three new battery packs after which time we will only need one new battery pack in our VW Beetle.
Additionally In 2006 we spent $2578.91 on gasoline and in 2007 we spent $2675.45 on gasoline for our Jeep Cherokee. In 2006 we drove 11601 miles, and in 2007 we drove 10700 miles. If we had been driving our electric VW it would have only cost us $348.03 to drive 11601 miles in 2006, and $321.00 to drive 10700 miles in 2007. That is an annual savings of $2,300.00 in gasoline alone.
Now if we take into account the fuel savings in conjunction with the regular maintenance of gasoline vehicles it is clear that driving electric vehicles would have saved us $3,300.00 annually in both 2006 and 2007. This will save us $32,175.00 in nine years.
Why are we all not driving electric vehicles for commuter cars?[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_single_image image=”53″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_single_image image=”54″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]NHEV Conversion: $11,000.00 This 72VDC system with lead acid batteries, can be installed on your choice of either the VW Type I, Geo Metro, or Chevy S-10, This system is often called the NHEV (Neighbor Hood Electric Vehicle) since it can not easily get up to freeway speeds. Ample Technology in Seattle.

A small generator set is sometimes suggested depending on our customers driving needs. However, we would suggest, not to think of the gen set as a means of a constant power source. As the more weight you add to your vehicle the less efficient it becomes. We would suggest a gen set which can be run in conjunction with the battery pack in order to extend drive time while you still have battery power left in your pack. If however your batteries were completely depleted, while you would not be able to run at full speed on the gen set, instead, perhaps at about 40 mph. More of a last resort, Get me home, my batteries are dead scenario.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]For a quote pealse fill out our quote page.
